Walk and Talk Therapy

Some things are easier to say when you’re moving.

Not everyone wants to sit on a couch and be “in therapy.” Walk and talk therapy takes our sessions outdoors, where movement, fresh air, and open space help you feel less stuck, in your body and in your thinking.

Why walk and talk?

  • Movement eases anxiety. Walking helps regulate your nervous system, release tension, and burn off the nervous energy that talking alone can’t.

  • Side-by-side feels safer. Without sustained eye contact, many people find it easier to open up, especially teens, men, and anyone who finds traditional therapy intimidating.

  • Mind and body together. My background in biology and as a yoga teacher shapes this work. We pay attention to your breath, your pace, and what your body is telling you, blending mindfulness and somatic tools with the same approaches I use in the office.

  • Nature is calming. Time outdoors is linked to lower stress and improved mood.

  • It breaks up “stuck.” Walking forward can help you think forward.

What it’s like

We meet at an agreed outdoor location in Miami and walk at your pace. It’s not exercise, and there’s no pressure to go fast or far. Sessions follow the same therapeutic process as office sessions: CBT, family systems, mindfulness, solution-focused work, and somatic tools, with movement built in. Individuals, couples, and teens are welcome.

Good fit if you

  • Feel anxious, restless, or “in your head”

  • Spend your day sitting and want something different

  • Find traditional therapy hard to start

  • Love being outdoors

  • Want to practice calming skills in real-life settings

Things to know

  • Privacy: Public settings aren’t as private as an office. We’ll choose quieter routes and agree on a plan for what to do if someone approaches. If a session needs full privacy, we can move indoors.

  • Weather: Miami heat, rain, and storms are real. We’ll reschedule, shorten the walk, or move to office or telehealth when needed.

  • Accessibility: Walking isn’t required to be fast, long, or strenuous. Tell me what works for your body.

  • Not for everyone: Some concerns are better addressed in a private office, and I’ll let you know if that’s the case for you.
