Coaching
You may not need therapy right now. You may simply know you’re capable of more and want a guide who helps you get there. Coaching is for driven, self-aware people who want clarity, accountability, and practical tools to create real change in their relationships, work, and sense of self.
Because I’m a licensed mental health professional with training in biology and medicine, and a long-time yoga and meditation teacher, my coaching goes deeper than motivation. You get psychological insight and mind-body tools, along with a clear plan.
What coaching can help with
Burnout, overwhelm, and finding sustainable balance
Setting boundaries and people-pleasing
Improving your relationship with yourself, your partner, family, and work
Navigating career changes and life transitions
Building confidence and decision-making
Creating routines for stress management, sleep, and well-being
Aligning your life with your values
My approach
Coaching sessions are goal-oriented and action-focused. We clarify what you want, identify what’s in your way, and build a plan. I draw on mindfulness, breathwork, somatic awareness, and cognitive and solution-focused tools. Spirituality is optional. If it matters to you, we’ll weave it in. If not, we won’t.
Coaching vs. therapy: what’s the difference
Focus
Therapy: Healing, understanding, and treating emotional or mental health concerns.
Coaching: Growth, goals, and creating change.
Time orientation
Therapy: Explores your past and present to resolve what’s causing distress.
Coaching: Starts in the present and moves toward the future you want.
Best for
Therapy: Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship distress, or symptoms that affect daily life.
Coaching: Feeling stuck, wanting to grow, navigating a transition, or reaching a goal.
Diagnosis and treatment
Therapy: May include a diagnosis and a treatment plan.
Coaching: No diagnosis and no treatment.
Structure
Therapy: Guided by clinical needs.
Coaching: Guided by your goals, with action steps and accountability.
Insurance and superbills
Therapy: Often eligible for out-of-network reimbursement through a superbill.
Coaching: Not reimbursable by insurance.
Regulation
Therapy: A licensed, regulated profession with confidentiality and clinical standards.
Coaching: An unregulated field, so look for a coach with real credentials and training.
Simply put
Therapy helps you heal and understand. Coaching helps you build and move forward. They aren’t opposites, and some people benefit from both at different times. If we start coaching and it becomes clear that therapy would serve you better, I’ll tell you and help you make the transition.
Is coaching right for me?
Coaching may be a great fit if you feel generally stable but want direction, accountability, and growth. Therapy is likely the better choice if you’re dealing with persistent depression, severe anxiety, trauma, thoughts of self-harm, or distress that interferes with your daily life.
