Types of Therapies:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Many negative emotions and dysfunctional patterns come from intense and distorted ways of thinking. Together, we explore the way you think about yourself, others, and the world. We use your life experiences and best thinking to create more balanced and complete thinking/behaviors. CBT helps create new, balanced patterns of thinking about yourself and the world around you.
Bowen Family Systems
Explore how your family history and relationship patterns shape who you are today. This theory is based on the idea that we’re all deeply connected to our family systems, through emotions and patterns, whether we realize it or not. We use this as a tool to gain insight and awareness on your and your family's emotional responses, transmission of anxiety, understand generational patterns, and create a more harmonious way of being your best self in all of your relationships. I help you learn to manage your own anxiety and stop managing your loved ones anxiety.
Solution Focused Therapy
Break away from problem focused thinking and behavior and learn to develop a solution focused mindset and better manage stressors and discomforting situations and reoccurring negative patterns. I help you pull from your strengths, interests, and the past to help you create a more functional solution oriented present and future.
Narrative Therapy
This is way of helping people see that they are not the problem; the problem is the problem. By exploring and rewriting the stories of their lives, people can reclaim agency, values, and hope. I help you to examine how you are woven into different systems, often in ways you might not fully see. Through this approach, you get to explore your internal emotional and external behavioral responses, gain clarity on the dynamics passed down through generations, and begin to step into a more mindful, compassionate way of being in your various relationships and your life. You will feel empowered as we uncover strengths, values, and preferred identities that may have been overshadowed by problem-saturated narratives.
Somatic and Mindfulness
Mindfulness involves cultivating non-judgmental awareness of the present moment, enhancing emotional regulation and stress reduction. Somatic therapy integrates this awareness with a focus on bodily sensations, recognizing that trauma and emotional experiences are often stored in the body, and works through these physical cues to facilitate healing. I work with you to pause and uncover what is happening emotionally, energetically, and physically in the bod. We learn to identify and create what specifically works for you(styles of breathing or ways to move) under particular stressors and how you can integrate those tools in your life.
Populations:
Adults
I work with adults and seniors who want to feel and think differently in their lives whether it has been happening for months, years, or is a recent intense stressors. I help you understand how your past, especially how your family and indivudal patterns, shape the way you show up in love, conflict, and connection. Together, we’ll build self-awareness, better communication, and a stronger relationship with yourself so you can create the kind of relationships you actually want. Many of my adult clients have worked with me for years because they love the support and safe space to process their lives.
Teens
I work with teens who recognize what is stressful to them and act as a person who they want to tell things to rather than another adult who is telling them to do things. I help teens process social dynamics, becoming their own person within their family system, and making them feel validated. I incorporate parents when needed, providing positive parenting techniques and tools to use at home to help reinforce family values and boundaries.
Couples
I help couples build stronger, more connected relationships by teaching them how to communicate with honesty, manage conflict with compassion, and reconnect with the love that brought them together. It’s not about fixing each other, it’s about growing together while staying true to who you are as your own person.
